1.Bee Gees - Massachusetts
"Massachusetts" 是 Bee Gees 早期最重要的一首歌，"The Ultimate Biography of The Bee Gees" 書上說：「在英國，此曲獲得了單曲榜四週冠軍；在西德是三週，在日本更是不可思議的六週。此外，它還在馬來西亞、南非、紐西蘭、新加坡和澳洲等地奪得冠軍……」此曲讓Bee Gees成為一線演唱團體..但在美國本土紅得發紫則是藉由電影"周末狂熱"頻打主題曲廣告而成名..
Massachusetts的歌詞表面上甚簡單..須配合上當時的美國時事..如此歌詞才能鮮活起來..欣賞時請勿看中文翻譯..因為有些辭不達意..ㄏㄏ

創作緣由
1967 年正是嬉皮（Hippie）運動的高潮，那年 7 月 7 日的《時代雜誌》，以〈嬉皮：次文化的哲學〉為封面故事，報導了這個由年輕人所發起的運動。這些年輕人自稱是「花之子」（Flower Children），加州的舊金山是他們嚮往的朝聖中心，Scott McKenzie 的一曲 "San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair)" ，則是這朝聖行動的主題歌。
作為外來客的 Bee Gees，一來到美國就受到這股氣氛的影響，也想要寫一首趕上潮流的歌曲。根據三兄弟回憶..「 "Massachusetts" 是一首關於『花的力量』（Flower Power）的曲子——或者說，這根本是一首『反花力量』的曲子。對此，我們遠比一般人還早感到厭倦。天啊！別去什麼舊金山了，趕快回家去吧！」Barry Gibb 笑著說，「我們想描寫相反的景象，就是大家都去舊金山了，那會變成什麼樣子……於是我們想，何不寫一首大家歸鄉的歌？整個麻州全都黯然無光，因為人全跑到舊金山了。」
Robin Gibb 則表示：「事實上，〈麻州〉說的並不是人們回到麻州的故事。這首歌代表那些想要回到某地或某物的人們。這是關於人們想要逃脫(當時社會潮流)的歌。」
Beatles的經紀人Brian Epstein聽過試聽帶後說：「那首 "Massachusetts" 一定會在全世界成為冠軍曲的。這首歌太美了。」
歌詞含意說明
「熄燈」代表人們的離去。1971 年，當西雅圖面臨到前所未見的不景氣浪潮時，大批失業的居民出走，當年兩個房地產經紀人掛出了一則著名的標語：「最後離開西雅圖的人，麻煩把燈熄掉。」（Will the Last Person Leaving SEATTLE -- Turn Out the Lights.）
夜景中的萬家燈火，代表了繁華、興盛、溫暖、團聚；而熄滅的燈光，則代表蕭條、衰敗、淒涼、離散。Bee Gees 很巧妙地運用這種象徵，反覆不斷地強調著「那整個麻州全都黯然無光」，用實際的景象來投射出心裡的不捨與掙扎。
主旋律和副歌兩句兩句配對，簡單地六段歌詞，"And the lights all went out in Massachusetts" 就出現了三次，Bee Gees 用歌聲不斷地提醒我們，那「整個麻州全都黯然無光」的荒涼，聲聲催促著離鄉的遊子，快點返鄉吧！你所拋下的，是你過往的一切，是你摯愛的佳人，還有那些淳樸可親的同鄉。
絃樂組從前奏起就貫穿全曲，整首歌曲不疾不徐，又顯得十分流暢，甚至有點進行曲的味道，如同是回鄉者輕快的步伐，有著如沐春風般的愉悅，又帶著點自責的愁悵。
這首曲子..偶從小就很喜歡..聽來感覺有些窩心..現在回想起來..當時不懂英文的偶居然也能感受到曲子要表達的東西..偶還有些佩服偶小時候有些"神"樣....ㄏㄏ
