Eric Clapton在年近五十歲的時候 才有一個兒子 但在1991年 四歲大的兒子竟從紐約53層樓高的公寓住家意外墜樓身亡 Eric Clapton喪子之後 從幾近崩潰、吸毒---最後Eric Clapton將心中的悲傷寫成這首Tears in Heaven(淚灑天堂) 來紀念亡子 藉由這Tears in Heaven重回歌壇 曲調簡單 令人鼻酸
※這首歌也獲得1993年葛萊美獎年度唱片、年度歌曲、最佳流行男歌手演唱獎三大獎
